Comerc Energia and Valgroup expand their partnership and enable 100% renewable energy consumption
13/01/2026The decision strengthens industry sustainability and competitiveness
Comerc, Vibra’s innovative energy and decarbonization solutions company, and Valgroup, a leader in the production, transformation, and recycling of plastics, are expanding their partnership with a focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and innovation. Starting in January 2026, Valgroup consume 100% of its energy from renewable sources, consolidating a clean energy matrix.
This milestone is achieved with Valgroup’s becoming a partner in one of Comerc’s Special Purpose Entities (SPEs) at the Hélio Valgas photovoltaic plant, located in Minas Gerais. With 662 MWp installed capacity, the project is the largest in Comerc’s portfolio and the sixth largest in Brazil. With this new scheme, Valgroup will increase its solar energy generation by 36%, with 100% coming from renewable sources.
The partnership between Comerc and Valgroup reinforces a years-long successful trajectory, guided by a common aim of sustainable growth. Valgroup already holds shares in two other Comerc solar power generation projects — the São João do Paracatu (State of Minas Gerais) and Bon Nome (State of Pernambuco) plants — strengthening the synergy between the companies. In addition to offering its clients energy solutions, Comerc supports Valgroup on its sustainability journey, contributing to achieving its goals through energy self-generation, management, energy trading, and a data hub (visualization of indicators derived from Comerc’s business intelligence).
A Comerc client since 2017, Valgroup is a leader in the production, transformation, and recycling of plastics, with units strategically located in Brazil and around the world, employing over 7,000 people, with a robust portfolio comprising solutions such as flexible and rigid plastic packaging, digital printing, recycled resins, mineral compounds, white masterbatch and performance additives, as well as high-tech pallet wrapping machines, combining innovation, performance and sustainability. For the company, sustainability is a central pillar, investing in innovation to promote the circular economy, reduce emissions, and achieve the goal of recycling 100% of its production volume by 2040.
“The search for low-carbon solutions has grown significantly, driven by the need for sustainable development and competitiveness.” Comerc has been a key partner in this process, offering experience, agility, financial stability, and strategic vision, which ensure the safety and predictability of our projects. “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to combining energy efficiency with competitiveness and strengthening Valgroup’s sustainable growth,” says Eduardo Berkovitz, Institutional Relations and Compliance Officer at Valgroup.
Each stage of the project was designed to ensure maximum electricity generation performance. Comerc brings together teams specializing in engineering, operations, maintenance, and financial management, ensuring efficiency, high performance, safety, and sustainable returns.
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to sustainable growth.” We have structured a self-production model that ensures the company’s energy consumption is 100% renewable, more predictable, and operates efficiently. Generating clean energy strengthens competitiveness and inspires other companies to adopt similar models. Sectors with high energy consumption have been seeking low-carbon solutions such as this. “Having Comerc as a partner provides security, expertise, and credibility in long-term projects,” says Clarissa Sadock, CEO of Comerc.
Comerc manages 4,700 wholesale and 1,100 retail consumer units, resulting in over 8 million tons of CO₂ avoided since 2009. Furthermore, in 2024 alone, 8 million I-RECs were traded, representing 2.2 million tons of CO₂ neutralized.

About Comerc Energia
Comerc Energia, a Vibra company specializing in innovative energy and decarbonization solutions, has over two decades of expertise in the Brazilian electricity sector. It began with the migration and management of consumers, generators, and distributors in the Free Energy Market and, over the years, has expanded into three other business verticals: Energy Efficiency, Electrical Energy and Decarbonization.
In January 2025, upon the definitive acquisition by Vibra, Comerc expanded its energy transition portfolio, adding:
• 8 centralized solar power plants (1.54 GWp of capacity);
• More than 100 distributed generation solar plants (334 MWp of capacity);
• 3 wind farms (280 MW capacity);
• 4,600 consumer units in the Free Market (6% of the energy consumed in the country);
• Sale of over 8 million I-RECs in 2024, consolidating its position as a benchmark in decarbonization projects;
• Approximately 700 greenhouse gas inventories delivered.
